Nätet känns oändlig, den kanske är det… Hur som helst så tillbringar vi mängder av tid med att söka och leta efter saker online. Själv letar jag ofta efter material som är licensierad under någon CC licens. Därför är det intressant nu när Creative Commons lanserar en beta av sin uppdaterade sökfunktion CC Search.

The current search embeds providers inside an iframe, which can be frustrating or confusing if you come to the site to find your favorite search providers wrapped in our frame.
I gave a brief presentation on the new search UI beta at a Creative Commons staff meeting recently. You can watch the UStream recording here.
Before we change the UI on search.creativecommons.org (also accessible via our home page and Firefox), we have some things to do: see how people use the beta, get feedback, and have the new interface translated into several languages.

Att använda sin smartphone för att surfa när man är utomlands är dyrt men nu kommer en EU regel som skall skydda konsumenten. Från och med 1 juli 2010 är maxgränsen för datatraffik €50 och operatören måste meddela när användaren har kommit up till 80% av beloppet. Dessutom skall maxgränsen för kostnader per MB sänkas. From 1 July 2010 consumers no longer need to worry about accidentally running up huge bills when they connect to the internet using mobile networks via a phone or computer when abroad in the EU. Thanks to the EU’s roaming rules, from 1st July travellers’ data-roaming limit will be automatically set at €50 excluding VAT (unless they have chosen another limit – higher or lower). Operators will have to send users a warning when they reach 80% of their data-roaming bill limit. The operator will have to cut off the mobile internet connection once the limit has been reached, unless the customer has indicated they want to continue data roaming that particular month. In addition, maximum wholesale prices for data roaming will fall from €1 to 80 cents per MegaByte. The maximum price for making a roaming call will be cut to 39 cents per minute (excluding VAT), instead of the current 43 cents, while receiving a call will cost a maximum of 15 cents per minute (excluding VAT), instead of 19 cents. The cost of making and receiving calls when abroad in the EU will now be 73% cheaper than in 2005, when the EU first started to tackle excessive roaming charges (IP/05/901).
Tidigare har skydd introducerats för att skydda den mobile konsumenten. Först kom ett tak på samtalspriser i 2007 (IP/07/870), i 2009 infördes regler med resultat att samtalstaxan skall sänkas till 35 cents per minut före 2011 (IP/09/1064 & MEMO/09/309). (via nordicons)
